The vanity table! So many of my clients opt to omit the vanity area and I strongly urge that clients do NOT skip on this area. It is a little haven that if someone does not sit down it is still functional as a completely girly, vain, beautiful storage area! I stand to apply my make-up, but I use my stool every day to put on boots or tie my shoes or more realistically to catch discarded outfits!

I always have fun putting together vanities or bathroom counters because of all the fun little accessories. I am a candle junkie, I love fresh flowers and I am very big on the importance of lamp or sconce lighting. The above, I believe, makes for a visually enticing use of space. The soaps, the jewelry, the make-up, the mirrors - ahhhh, lovely! I unfortunately have all of my jewelry put away, but when I do see it I am always thrilled to see all the beautiful pieces I have collected over the years along with the different compartments that hold the keepsakes - each a different memory and meaning. Makes me happy. Oh, the little things...

I'm not sure anyone is able to say the word "vain" without thinking of Warren Beatty and/or Carly Simon - I certainly cannot! Aren't vanities just the bee's knees? Our own little spaces for primping! The necessities are a beautiful lamp, a pretty stool or chair and a good mirror. Flowers and pictures of loved ones add a nice touch. The area has the ability to be such a glamorous space that you will be looking at often, so why not make it beautiful?
