Thomas Edison was obviously a genius. The light bulb has the ability to transform an otherwise stale space into a piece of art. The dimensions added to a space by the unpredictable fall of the light is pure beauty. The way the light reflects items is amazing to me and such a source of happiness. I always love walking into a home that is perfectly lit by beautiful lamplight. What better canvas to bring alive that a beautiful sky. Candles will do the trick, too, but Mr. Edison was well on to something when he invented the actual bulb - and I would like to thank him!

The Shape of Things to Come...

Topiaries or boxwood topiaries are the best for adding a touch of green to a space. As most of you may have figured out, I often lean towards symmetry in a room. It provides me with my inner equilibrium :) I love the plants flanking a front door, lining a drive, or being used sporadically in a room . I think that there should be signs of life in rooms be it a small topiary, a bowl of green moss or maybe an orchid or pretty long-lasting flower of some type. I seem to have the best luck with boxwoods and I enjoy the shapes and height you are able to achieve with this plant. All that being said, my green thumb is definitely a work in progress with much extra room for improvement!

I love this time of year - when the weather is just perfect enough to enjoy dinner outside. We have been lucky enough to have a fantastic Spring here in Texas. Pretty soon (emphasis on soon) the heat will be so severe that doing anything outside besides emerging yourself in a body of water will be unbearable! A lovely excuse for setting the table outside now. Throw a table cloth on there, light some candles, put some flowers in a vase and voila! I'd choose a yummy pasta dish with some great wine and good tunes. And I never, ever forget the dessert :)

We are having perfect weather in Texas for patio dining which leads me to ivy covered walls. I love the effect the green has on the facade of a building. I love the natural growth of it and I especially enjoy planting it and watching it grow through the seasons and years. Although it is not suggested to be used on older brick facades because of mortar issues I have it growing on my wall - I am terribly hard headed. It is low maintenance with high impact, which is perfect for a green thumb like me ;) Ivy is a wonderful solution for boring fences, too!

Happy Tuesday to all!...
