Stripe Magic...

Stripes are such a fun and graphic way to make a bold statement in a room or in fashion. Their repetitiveness helps set a tone without offending the eyes. The options are endless as far as width and pattern repeat. The look will still read as a stripe even if the width of the actual stripes vary. I love them on upholstery, rugs, tableclothes, tops, shoes, and even in landscape design. The trick that a stripe possesses is the ability to lengthen something visually - which is exactly why I never will wear horizontal stripes from the waist down :)

Happy Thursday peeps!...

The graphic chevron print is so fun and can have such a nice impact in a room. The pattern is used over and over in things you not even realize such as paver sidewalks, tile designs in bathrooms and kitchens and hardwood floors. The pattern can be very in your face as well as a subtle repetitive print that looks like a solid with a little more zing. The pattern can be consistent or random, which adds another edge. I would most likely stick with the consistent pattern on wallpaper or a rug since I am such a symmetry freak, but the random pattern could be fun on pillows or maybe upholstered furniture.

I hope everyone is enjoying the same incredible Spring weather we are having in Texas! Happy Wednesday!...

Big fan of Moroccan rugs over here! Especially the pile ones. I am attracted to the consistent inconsistencies of the rugs as well as the shag feel. I also am drawn to the geometric patterns the rugs present. Overall I am not a huge fan of your typical shag rug, but give me a Moroccan one any day. My feet just beg to rest on one. Prepare your wallet though because these babies are not cheap!

Happy Halloween weekend to everyone!...

In my book you can never go wrong with a little spot of leopard - no pun intended. The pattern is often mimicked from one of the most beautiful animals on the face of the earth. A fun, sexy pattern that is both classic and able to be reinvented time and again. I definitely believe that moderation should be practiced with the use of the accoutrement. Go for it - and be sure to use it wisely.

Happy week wishes to all!...
