How do you decorate your mantle? There are so many endless possibilities and ways to really have fun when putting your Christmas decorations on top of the fireplace. It is the perfect focal point to exercise symmetry as I would probably do. If you go with the standard garland it is easy just to throw additions in there (pine cones, feathers, berries, candles, ornaments) and just kind of go for it. Candles, greenery, or a row of objects all work. The main goal is for you to enjoy what you are looking at every day and it is a bonus if your guests enjoy it, too!
