Well, you know the expression! Powder bathrooms are like a little jewel box that you can have so much fun with. They are rooms that are often for guests, so you can rest assured knowing your investment will be appreciated. I often tell clients that a Powder Room is such a great place to invest in wallpaper or interesting paint work because the rooms are usually small and the amount of labor or material is therefore equivalent.

Great weekend wishes to all!

The power of a mirror is hands down my favorite decorating tool. Well, maybe the lamp is, but the mirror is a close second! The glass is such a visual trip that it is able to give the effect of doubling the size of the space or giving the image that there is art or books where clearly there are not. They work in virtually any space. The trick is able to be accomplished by a small mirror or a huge one, one mirror or a series of mirrors. Mirrors are amazing!

Happy weekend to everyone!

Tubs as Art...

Baths are such a luxury! They are a symbol of relaxation, calm and clean. These images show the numerous ways to use a freestanding bathtub as a piece of art. They are the focal points in the rooms and I am quite sure I would be a very happy camper as an owner of any one of those tubs! Yes, please!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Spring weekend!

All the cherry tree, dogwood, and pussy willow branches go hand and hand with Spring and specifically Easter. What a beautiful piece of nature that we have been given to work with. I love the unexpected surprise a big bunch of cherry blossoms adds when decorating. They are bigger than a traditional bouquet, and the branches add a rough element that juxtaposes the soft blooms. I watched a history special on national monuments on a transatlantic flight recently and found it very interesting that the famous cherry trees in Washington DC were gifted to the United States by Japan in 1912 as a symbol of friendship and an effort to enhance it. What an incredible gift to our nation.

Happy Easter everyone!!!!

One of my favorite color combinations in a room is black and peach. I have always loved it and I think it derives from my memories of my grandmother's home when I was a little girl. I think it is both glamorous and striking. It could be the inside of a black fireplace, the iron from an iron and glass coffee table, a lamp shade, a pillow or flowers. Small doses in these colors seem to pack quite a punch for me aesthetically.

I wish everyone a wonderful Easter! Enjoy the Spring fun...
