As Charles Dickens put it so eloquently in Great Expectations, "Spring is the time of year, when it is summer in the sun and winter in the shade". It is my favorite season and the days just make me sing out loud (and dance a little alone in the car) while schlepping design items all over town from vendor to client to vendor to client!
A backyard is a haven that can literally make you happy! It is definitely an extension of the home and a wonderful way to really enjoy nature. Makes no difference if it is a tiny courtyard or a huge plot of land - the sheer joy of watching a vine bloom or a bird noshing on some feed can do wonders for your soul!
"Will you help me design my daughter's room?" Ahhhh, music to my ears! I absolutely adore decorating a little girl's room. The older I become the girlier I think girl's rooms should be! The options are endless and the results can be magical.
Nature is one of my most important inspirations when designing so it should be of no surprise that the pattern of a zebra is one of my favorites. The bold graphic contrast presented in the beauty of a zebra skin rug is pleasing to me in almost any room. I love the surprising, bold element that it delivers. I have found that people either love them or hate them - there really is no in between. Either way, I think the animal is such a beautiful creature that I definitely fall on the "love" side. I dig em! How do you feel about them?
Happy Weekend to everyone! I'm off to explore Fredricksburg, Texas...
Stairs are so underrated when it comes to design. They can pack such a punch and usually are in a visual focal point in the house. Traffic obviously has to be a huge consideration when choosing how to dress yours, but many options deceptively hide more dirt and foot traffic than you would actually assume. Although sometimes slippery, my favorite for price-point, durability and a timeless look is seagrass, but with money not being an option (right!). I could really go nuts in some of my choices. Stripes, repetitive patterns, a cool weave - the list goes on and on...
I hope everyone has a weekend as beautiful as mine is here! Step it up!
Spring is just around the corner and I am as happy as a lark! The last few days in Houston have been amazing and it is just a flirtation with the wonderful Springs we have here. It would be a treat to sit down to dinner in most of the rooms above. I don't know about you, but I think I'll take my dinner on the outside terrace if the weather continues to behave. Bring it on spring time...
