Show me a piece of art with water as a subject and most likely I will be a fan. It doesn't matter if it is a pool, a coastal scene, portraits in the rain, a cup of water or a river traversing through the land - you name it and there is a very good chance I will be drawn to it. I love the way water translates into art because it is a moving object and being able to capture the beauty of it and share it with others (thank you artists!) is fascinating to me. As I become older I notice that I have very clear visions of what I prefer and what I dislike and water art happens to be heavy on the former.

Bold design choices can be so much fun and have such an amazing impact on the particular space! Naturally, we all lean towards "safer" choices when it comes to paint colors, fabric choices, light fixtures, paint finishes, rug options - you catch my drift. But, some of the most memorable, custom-made spaces are compiled of decisions that almost certainly caused the designer a good amount and stress to achieve, yet once these ideas are formed and translated from an idea to an actual room they are able have the most fabulous effect. My biggest challenge is the process of holding the client's hand and persuading them to TRUST that the final product will, in fact, be fabulous! Once this goal is accomplished it is smooth sailing with said client from that day forward - and that is one of the most rewarding aspects of my job. I love my job!

Penchant for Pendants...

Pendant lighting in a kitchen can be very multi-functional, which is always a good thing when designing. The pendants not only provide extra light for the particular area, but also an extra visual plane that the eye is drawn to when entering the space. Kitchens are rooms made up of several different stations, and pendant lighting puts invisible walls around the particular "station" it is lighting. This could be an island, a dining table, a cook top or really anything depending on the creativity of the designer. There are so many choices as far as options go allowing the designer to tie in the rest of the room or bring in something funky into an otherwise sleek space.

I always have fun putting together vanities or bathroom counters because of all the fun little accessories. I am a candle junkie, I love fresh flowers and I am very big on the importance of lamp or sconce lighting. The above, I believe, makes for a visually enticing use of space. The soaps, the jewelry, the make-up, the mirrors - ahhhh, lovely! I unfortunately have all of my jewelry put away, but when I do see it I am always thrilled to see all the beautiful pieces I have collected over the years along with the different compartments that hold the keepsakes - each a different memory and meaning. Makes me happy. Oh, the little things...
Happy Monday to you all! Be sure to look at something that makes you happy today...
